In the sound of the hammer, echoes two hundred years of copperwork—a quiet resonance of time held in metal.

Founded in 1816 in Tsubame, Niigata, Gyokusendō emerged from a region shaped by floods, where metalwork became a means of survival. Over time, this gave rise to the tradition of tsuiki copperware. Using hammers and anvils to shape copper, and applying original coloring techniques, each piece gains deeper character with use. Introduced to the world at the 1873 Vienna Expo, this craftsmanship continues today, passed down through the hands of skilled artisans.

An exhibition, live demonstration, and sale of copperware—where the warmth of tradition lives on in every crafted piece.

At the heart of the display stands a striking, oversized work inspired by the first-generation artisan’s handcrafted “Tsuba-yakan”, kettle with a wide brim. Here, you can witness the refined craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibility that have been lovingly passed down for over two centuries. The spirit of Tsubame’s metalwork lives on, quietly shaping beauty with every hammer’s touch.
